Why did you choose a career in design?
My dad went to a fine arts school (and currently works in the engineering field), and my mom has been a knitter for as long as I can remember. Being raised around the arts for my entire life pushed me towards a creative career path – but I also enjoy the scientific side of things.
I originally wanted to be an architect, but after discovering that interior design was more widely offered on the collegiate level, I decided to give it a shot! It ended up being a perfect fit, and I’m so happy that I have the opportunity to work at a job I love.
What designers have had major influences in your career?
One of the earliest influences was Frank Lloyd Wright; I was able to travel to the Robie House in Chicago while still in design school. More recently, I am inspired by fellow designers and architects like Jean Stoffer, Pike Properties, and Kate Abt Designs, and draw inspiration from the seven elements of design (line, color, space, form, etc.)
What social media sites inform your design philosophy?
I pull a lot of inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest, along with blogs such as Young House Love. While I do have a personal style, I love being able to provide my clients with different ideas that complement their vision for their homes!
How do you keep up on current design trends?
I follow many design and product accounts on social media, and also get updates from various reps on new and upcoming materials. I also love seeing the projects that my friends and family are working on!
What questions do you ask clients when you first meet?
I like to discuss their needs and wants first: we talk about the areas they want to improve in their spaces, and conversely, the parts they love. Once we establish these baselines, I ask about colors, textures, and their overall style and vision for the spaces.
How do you communicate with clients throughout the design process and during their installations?
The design process starts with a lot of questions and answers to help nail down the overall design and make sure their range of needs and wants are explored and addressed. After that, we book several in-person meetings to start shopping for “big selections,” like cabinets, counters, flooring, and tile!
Once the process is firmly underway, I’m in constant communication with clients as they’re picking out plumbing and electrical fixtures; hardware; and paint.
Once the project starts, I’m answering any and all questions clients have, and ensuring the vision we’ve created is clearly conveyed to our awesome guys in the field.
What’s your favorite place to vacation?
So far, Jamaica is my favorite! My husband and I love the people and their culture, plus the island and its beaches are gorgeous.

We loved her and we’re thankful for her, Ephraim and the entire Cornerstone team! – Sabrina I.
Hannah Fish was a joy to work with. She guided me through an array of baffling choices painlessly. I relied on her to give smart recommendations on everything from the placement of the open shelves to the best appliances for the space. And I’m delighted with the end result. – Victoria D.
Working with Hannah was great – she’s one of the reasons we decided to go with Cornerstone for our project. We had a specific vision that she helped bring to life, while guiding us with what would look best and work in our space. We appreciated the little things like the 3D renderings and mood boards to help visual the many choices we had. She was very responsive to all our emails and questions asked.
